_ Former Beacon Station No 12419 March 18,2002 <br /> Stockton California Problem Assessment Re ort/Correcttve Action Plan <br /> Soil cuttings were stockpiled at the site on and covered with plastic prior to characterization <br /> and disposal Four representative soil samples were also collected from the drill cuttings <br /> stockpile after completion of the monitoring wells The soil samples were collected and <br /> handled as described in the attached Field Methods and Procedures (Appendix D) <br /> Possession of the samples was recorded on chain-of-custody documents <br /> Soil samples were field screened for the presence of volatile petroleum hydrocarbon vapors <br /> with a portable photo-ionization detector(PID) Soil boring logs were kept during drilling to <br /> record soil descriptions, sampling information, field screening data, comments regarding <br /> drilling progress, and well construction details Soils were described using the Unified Soil <br /> Classification System (USCS) Soil boring logs and a boring log symbol key is contained in <br /> Appendix E <br /> Two-inch diameter, flush-threaded, Schedule 40 PVC wells were installed in the soil <br /> borings The air sparge wells AS-2 and AS-3 were screened with 0 010-inch slotted PVC <br /> pipe set over intervals of approximately 123 to 128 feet bsg and 80 to 85 feet bsg, <br /> respectively A #3 sand filter pack was placed adjacent to and approximately two feet above <br /> the top of the screened intervals Two-foot thick bentonite filter pack seals were placed on <br /> top of the filter pack A neat cement sanitary seal extending to the surface was placed on top <br /> of the bentonite seal The well heads were fitted with locking caps and the surface was <br /> completed with traffic-rated vault boxes <br /> Soil samples collected at depths of 90, 100, 110, 120, 125 and 130 feet bsg from the air <br /> sparge well AS-2 boring were selected for analyses Soil samples collected at depths of 16, <br /> 26, 51, 61, 81 and 86 feet bsg from the air sparge well AS-3 boring were selected for <br /> analyses The four stockpile soil samples were submitted for analysis as a composite <br /> sample <br /> Selected soil samples from the monitoring well borings and four representative samples <br /> from the soil stockpile were submitted to Kiff Analytical LLC (Kifl), a California <br /> 419PARCAP3-02 doc 7 <br /> Protect No 1419 23 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br />
