1
TANK CLOSURE REPORT--BEACON STATION #419 -2-
2350 Waterloo Road, Stockton, CA
AMV Project No 19011 03
' On October 22, 1993, the existing USTs were removed Removal of the tanks was witnessed
by Mr. Jake Stryd of Ultramar, as well as Ms L. T. Briggs, Environmental Health
' Representative, County of San Joaquin Mr Ron Hiltscher, Fire Prevention Inspector, City of
Stockton, inspected the tanks and monitored the oxygen content and lower explosive limit of
vapors within the tanks prior to removal The tanks were inspected upon removal All three
' USTs were found to be in good condition and no holes were observed The tanks were
transported by H & H Ship Service Company, Inc , to their facility in San Francisco, California,
for metal salvaging
' A total of six soil samples were collected for analysis from the former tank basin on October 22,
P Y
' 1993 One soil sample was collected from each end of the former UST locations. Soil sample
locations are illustrated in Figure 3 The sample locations were designated by Ms. Briggs and
confirmed by Mr. Stryd Soil samples collected in the tank basin on October 22, 1993, were
' collected at depths ranging from approximately 17 to 20 feet below grade The soil samples
were analyzed for concentrations of TPHg, BTEX, total lead, and ethylene dibromide (EDB)
Soil samples that contained concentrations of total lead equal to or greater than 13 milligrams
per kilogram (mg/kg) were also analyzed for soluble lead
The soil samples were collected by driving a 2-inch-diameter brass tube into the soil retrieved
with an excavator bucket. Analytical results from soil samples collected from the tank basin on
October 22, 1993, are compiled in Table 1 Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon
constituents were detected in soil samples collected from five of the six locations Copies of
' certified analytical reports from the former UST basin are contained in Appendix A
' 3.0 PRODUCT PIPING TRENCH SOII, SAMPLING
On October 26, 1993, seven soil samples were collected from the former pump island area at
the subject site. Locations of the former product distribution lines and the fuel dispensers are
illustrated on Figure 4, along with sample collection locations P-1 through P-7. Soil sample
' locations were designated by Ms Briggs Soil samples were collected from approximately
2 5 feet to 4 feet below grade Soil samples were submitted for analysis of BTEX, TPHg, total
lead, and EDB. Soil samples that contained concentrations of total lead equal to or greater than
' 13 mg/kg were analyzed for soluble lead Copies of certified soil sample analytical reports for
product piping samples are presented in Appendix B Soil sample analytical results are compiled
in Table 2. BTEX, TPHg, and EDB were not detected in any of these samples above the
reported detection limit
9 01
' RPr020 ECD
