' Cahfa rnia Cedar Products Company Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation ' And Well Survey 1340 West Washington Street, Stockton, CA ' concentrations of xylenes at 0 041mg/kg The remaining soil samples did not have concentrations of THPd or BTEX at or above laboratory detection limits (ND) The results of analyses of samples of soil from the borings are presented in Table 1 Grab-groundwater Sample Analytical Results - TPHd was detected in the grab-groundwater ' samples from HP-1 at 4,300 ug/1 (micrograms per liter), HP-5 at 1700 ug/l, HP-3 at 430 ug/l, and HP-4 at 87 ug/1 Groundwater sample from HP-1 had a detection of toluene at 1 7 ug/1 and xylenes at 3 9 ug/l, and groundwater sample from HP-3 detected xylenes at 0 75 mg/1 Benzene was not reported in any of the groundwater samples The results of analyses for grab-groundwater samples are presented in Table 2 I WELL SURVEY On August 7 and 20, 2003, a door-to-door survey of the area was performed by RAB Consulting's staff geologist, to identify municipal and private water-supply wells and natural potential sensitive receptors in the vicinity of the former UST The search parameters were municipal wells and/or private water supply wells within 2000 feet (Plate 3 shows the survey area) RAB Consulting performed the survey by first attempting to contact a resident or employee at each address within the survey area If no one was present, RAB Consulting personnel left a self-addressed, stamped reply postcard In addition, prior to the field survey, a Department of Water Resources (DWR) historical well data search was conducted of the area within a 2000 foot radius of the site RAB Consulting also checked with the City of Stockton and California.Water Service to determine if wells were present in the survey area The results � of the door-to-door survey are summarized in Table 3 Door-to-door Survey Summary of Results RAB Consulting visited 222 addresses located within a 2000 ft radius of the site during the door- to-door survey Based on the door-to-door survey, it appears that all of the residences within the search parameters are connected to city water However, one home located at 411 S Pershing Avenue had a soft water system at the side of the house suggestive of a residence on well water The soft water system did not appear to be currently in use and no well was observed in the yard or close vicinity At 215 South Los Angeles Street, near the margin of the 2000 ft survey radius, the DWR documentation reports a well installed in 1961 However, a City water meter was observed at this location but no well was observed We were unable to contact the occupant to verify the existence of the reported well Based on our review of local groundwater gradient information this reported but unconfirmed well is not down gradient from the subject site Ile DWR Search Results IIn addition to the door-to-door survey, the DWR conducted a well records search of the area Robert A Booher Consulting 4 November 6, 2003
