I California Products Company <br /> nia Ceda o p y <br /> Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation <br /> And Well Survey <br /> 1340 West Washington Street, Stockton, CA <br /> within a 2000' radius of the site The DWR located well drillers' reports for forty-eight wells in <br /> the general area A copy of the well drillers' reports is included in Appendix B <br /> r California Water Service notified RAB Consulting on September 22, 2003 that they reported no <br />` wells within a 2000' radius of the site <br /> Surface-water Bodies and Environmental Habitats <br /> The topography surrounding the subject site is generally flat to gently sloping westward In the <br /> site vicinity, the neighborhood is described as industrial, however, residential areas are south and <br /> west of the site within the survey area The nearest surface sensitive receptor appears to be north <br /> of the site is the Mormon Slough, located over a 1000 feet north of the former UST location, <br /> which in turn connects with the Port of Stockton/San Joaquin River approximately 0 5 males <br /> north of the site No other creeks or surface drainages were observed within the search area <br /> The area north of the site belongs to McCormack & Baxter and is currently under it's own <br /> environmental investigations <br /> 1 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS <br /> Well Survey Conclusions <br /> • The results of the well survey appear to indicate that shallow wells in the area are monitoring <br /> wells only, properties with in the area served by the municipal water supply We did not discover <br /> venfiable domestic or municipal wells during our survey <br /> I The closest deeper water wells in the vicinity to the north belong to CH2M Hill/McCormick & <br /> p Y g <br /> Baxter and a Paper Company to the south of the subject property These wells are screened at <br /> much deeper zones and are operated under site-specific monitoring programs <br /> Soil and Groundwater Investigation <br /> The site investigations performed on September 12, 2002, and July 21, 2003, at the California <br /> Cedar Products Stockton facility have provided additional characterization of the soils beneath <br /> the site in the vicinity of the former USTs <br /> Analysis of soil samples collected from the vadose zone in the July 21, 2003 investigation <br /> indicate that soils impacted by diesel are localized in the area of the former UST excavation area <br /> E The clay aquitard originally identified in 2002, was confirmed to underlay the entire area <br /> explored The clay aquitard was encountered in all of the probes at depths as follows HP-1 @ <br /> 24ft, HP-2 @ 25ft, HP-3 @ 25 5ft, HP-4@24 5ft and HP-5 @ 25 5ft In the deeper probe (HP- <br /> 1) the clay aquitard was approximately nine feet in thickness When the depth to the top of the <br /> clay aquitard is plotted on the boring location map, the top of the clay defines a surface dipping <br /> gently to the southeast This is also the direction of the assumed gradient of the upper water- <br /> bearing zone <br /> Robert A Booher Consulting 5 November 6, 2003 <br />
