California Cedar Products Company
Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation
. And Well Survey
1340 West Washington Street, Stockton, CA
The shallow groundwater has been impacted in the sandy unit directly above the aqurtard
between 20 to 24 5 feet bgs,but likely does not extend far from the former UST complex The
I water sample from HP-2, the probe farthest down gradient from the former USTs (and down
slope as defined by the top of the clay aqurtard layer) had no reported detections of TPH-d or
BTEX Furthermore the concentrations of diesel in all water samples where detected appear
relatively low and confined
The groundwater samples collected from HP-1 indicate minimum impact to this uppermost
I water-bearing zone, therefore indicating a very limited lateral migration and the confining clay
aquitard limits the impacted groundwater from further vertical migration
The California Cedar Products Company facility is in an area of heavy industrial use, and one
site up gradient from the subject site, the CH2M Hilt/McCormick & Baxter to the north, has been
a heavily impacted site Plate 3 shows numerous monitoring wells associated with that site's
investigation and their location relative to the California Cedar Products Company facility
RECOMMENDATIONS
Given that the results of the additional investigation have determined the site area is underlain by
a clay aqurtard approximately 9 feet thick, that diesel fuel impacts to the soil are of limited extent
laterally, that the upper groundwater zone is not impacted by benzene, that this water is not used
by local wells, that there are physical constraints on further removal of impacted soils, and the
site is in an area of heavy industrial use with significant known impacts, RAB Consultants
' recommends the County consider this case for closure with no further action
LIMITATIONS
The services described in this report were performed in a manner consistent with generally
accepted consulting principles and practices at this time and in this geographic area No other
warranty, expressed or implied, is made This report is solely for the use of the Client unless
otherwise noted The report is to be used only in its entirety Opinions and recommendations
contained in this report apply to conditions existing when services were performed We are not
responsible for impacts resulting from any changes in site conditions, or in environmental
standards, practices, or regulations subsequent to the performance of services We do not
warrant the accuracy of information supplied by others
I
' Robert A Booher Consulting 6 November 6, 2003
