Beginning January 1, 2013, all businesses are required to submit all new(or any changes to existing) <br /> hazardous waste information online to the CERS at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov. Be sure to include your hazardous <br /> waste activity in the Businesses Activities section in CERS in addition to any other relevant activities and required <br /> fields. <br /> Please be sure to make a CERS submittal and update CERS account, submit statement/documentation to EHD. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 202 HSC 25189.5(a)Disposed or caused disposal of HW at an unauthorized point. <br /> The following was observed in hazardous waste storage area: <br /> -Seven used oil metal filters observed with no container, no used oil filter labels, and no accumulation start date. <br /> Bills of lading for the recycling of used oil filters for the last three years were not found on site. <br /> Note: <br /> Employee, Josh, states that he takes used oil metal filters to nearby auto parts store(CarQuest)located on main St. <br /> in Ripon. <br /> Owner Dave states that they let used oil metal filters drain for three months. <br /> A phone call to CarQuest found that they do not accept accept oil, absorbent, or oil filters. <br /> HSC 25189.5(a): The disposal of any hazardous waste, or the causing thereof, is prohibited when the disposal is at a <br /> facility which does not have a permit from the department issued pursuant to this chapter, or at any point which is not <br /> authorized according to this chapter. <br /> Title 22 California Code of Regulations 66266.130: Used oil filters are to be managed as hazardous waste unless the <br /> conditions in this code section are met. <br /> Carquest,424 W Main St, Ripon, is not an authorized collection point for drained used oil filters. <br /> Immediately cease disposal of hazardous waste at Carquest and ensure that all future waste is disposed of properly <br /> per California Health and Safety Code and Title 22 California Code of Regulations.
