1*1
3.0 GROUND WATER MONITORING
IT CORPORATION
On May 30, and June 24, 1985, all the wells reaching ground water on the
site were surveyed and monitored. Monitoring consisted of measured
depth to ground water and product thickness if product was present. A
description of the procedure is given in Attachment 2. Monitoring
results are shown in Table 3.1. No free product was observed in the
water samples from any of the wells. A slight sheen and faint petroleum
odor was noted in MW --7.
3.1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT
Monitoring data collected from the ground water monitoring wells on May
30 and June 24, 1985 indicate a piezometric elevation difference of 0.14
and 0.22 feet, respectively. With such a slight difference, an accurate
flow direction could not be determined.
3.2 WELLS LOCATED NEAR SITE
Figure 3.1 shows the location of irrigation and domestic wells in the
vicinity of the station. The Data presented are from Well Drillers
Reports submitted to the California Department of Water Resources
(DWR). Table 3.2, which accompanies Figure 3.1, shows information
regarding each well plotted. The well number presented is the number on
the Water Well Drillers report. The approximate elevation of the well
is presented next and, in most cases, is simply an interpreted elevation
from the topographic map for the area. The approximate distance of the
well from the station is indicated. The next column indicates whether
the well is for domestic or irrigation purposes. The depth of the well
and the depth of the surface seal is presented followed by the screen
interval. The surface seal is the cement grout that is intended to
protect the well from contamination migrating down the well bore from
- -- ----- the --land surface.- The -screen -interval -is the actual -length -of -well that- -
is open to accept water from the ground. Finally, an indication of whe-
ther a well is active or inactive is made along with the year the well
4 was drilled.
'*' 5
