Ei3
IT COUPORATION
March 14, 1985
Mr. J. Kelly Williamson
Kayo Oil Company
1221 E. Main Street
Chattanooga, Tennessee 37408
Dear Mr. Williamson:
SUBJECT: Soils Boring and Monitor Well Installation
Summary Report for:
Econo Self Service Station
4325 E. Washington Street
Stockton, California
Store: #05748
IT Project No. 3183
This report summarizes the work accomplished regarding the soil profile
examination and monitoring well installation at the Econo self service
station at 4325 E. Washington Street in Stockton, California. The
investigation was conducted to provide basic subsurface information at
the site and included soil sampling at five-foot intervals. Soil pro-
file information will be of assistance in the interpretation of possible
contaminant migration. Before work began, a well installation permit
was obtained from the San Joaquin local health district.
On site work commenced at 8:30 a.m. on February 27, 1985, by drilling
four borings within the property boundary encircling the underground
tanks, as shown on Figure 1. The soil borings were drilled with a
truck-mounted 8-inch hollow-stem auger to depths between 29.5 and 30.5
feet. The soils were sampled at five-foot intervals, classified, and
recorded according to the Unified Soils Classification System (Plate I).
Drilling ceased at 2:10 p.m. that same day. All four borings were
backfilled in their entirety with cement-bentonite grout.
Ground water was not encountered in any of the borings. Petroleum LEL
readings of 10%, 22% and 25% were recorded at the 10-, 15- and 20-foot
levels, respectively, of boring DH-1. Samples at the 25- and 30-foot
had-zero-percent.-LEL...readings.-....-The remaining-three-bores...did- --
encounter hydrocarbons at any depth. The soil profiles were character-
ized by sandy silts and clays in bores DH-2, DH-3, and DH-4, with a
Regional Office
IT Corperalion•1 B l5 Arno!d Drive-Marlinez.Calilornia 4x553• 15-228-8400
