• Petroleum-hydrocarbon concentrations measured by a volatile hydrocarbon
meter in the SVE and AS monitoring wells to determine whether AS has
increased or decreased petroleum-hydrocarbon concentrations in extracted
vapor every 1 hour.
• Petroleum-hydrocarbon and fixed gases (oxygen, carbon dioxide, and
methane) concentrations in extracted vapor by analyzing an air sample
collected from the SVE well before and 1.5 hours after turning the sparge
well on. Data will be evaluated to determine whether spargmg results iii
an increase in extracted vapor concentrations.
The combined test as detailed above will be conducted at one other combination
of sparge to vapor flow (ratio of 1.5) at the sparge well. Only changes in
induced vacuum response and increase in petroleum-hydrocarbon concentration
in extracted vapor from the SVE well will be measured during this test.
Brown and Caldwell will prepare a report documenting the field activities and evaluating
the results from the AS/SVE test. The data will be interpreted to identify- (1) the
feasible air injection rates and pressures; (2) initial air distribution around each well
resulting from injection; and (3) increase in hydrocarbon removal from AS compared to
SVE alone. The evaluation will recommend the proper sparge blower selection and
evaluate the effectiveness of SVE system with AS to remediate the site.
4 ,
