• Sparge air and helium flow rates and air pressure at the sparge test well
by use of pneumatic in-lune flowmeter and pressure indicators every 15
minutes.
• Sparge air temperature by use of an in-line air temperature gauge at the
sparge well.
• Hydrocarbon concentrations as measured by a volatile hydrocarbon meter
in wells with exposed screened intervals above the water table before
sparge, every hour during sparging and after sparge ng.
• Helium concentrations in the saturated zone in sparge monitoring wells by
use of a helium detector capable of detecting up to 100 parts per million
of helium every 15 minutes.
• Dissolved oxygen (DO) concentrations in the sparge monitoring wells and
sparge well before and after spargmg at each flow rate using a field DO
meter.
Day Two
1. After completing the sparge tests, the preliminary data collected from the SVE
test and the AS tests will be evaluated to deternune the optimum conditions for
the combined AS/SVE test. Optimization will be based on estimated radius of
influence data obtained from induced vacuum measurements during the short-term
SVE tests performed by Brown and Caldwell and from water levels, DO, helium,
and FID (or PID) readings during the sparge tests. The combined test will be
performed on the test wells used for the AS and SVE tests. SVE will be initiated
at a mmamum of two times the optimal sparge air flow rate before spargmg
begins. No helium will be used during the combination test.
2. Initially, the SVE system will be operational until approximate steady-state
conditions are achieved, followed by AS in combination with SVE for the
remaining prod. The following parameters will be monitored:
• Decrease in induced vacuum readings in sparge monitoring wells as a
result of spargnng every 15 minutes.
• Extraction air flow rates and applied vacuums at the SVE well every 15
minutes.
Extracted vapor temperatures by an nn-line temperature gauge.
• Sparge air flow rates, sparge temperature, and applied air pressures m the
sparge well every 15 minutes.
