These samples, as identified on the Boring
Logs, were collected at five-foot intervals from the ground
SI T; surface to total depth of the borings.
Soil samples were collected by advancing the boring to a point
i,
immediately above the sampling depth, and then driving the
S sampler into the native soil. The sampler was driven 12 to 18
inches with a standard 140 pound hammer dropped 30 inches. The
w
Yrl a
number of blows required to drive the sampler each successive six
rV
inches was counted and recorded as an indication of soil material
consistency.
sr
 a R
Descriptions of earth materials encountered in the borings are
presented in the Boring Logs, Plates P-5 through P-16. Plate P-4
•2 gives a summary of the Unified Soil Classification System used to
identify the soils.
