s aramark Spill Materials Guidance Document The following document provides guidance on the types of spill control materials to maintain on site. When using sorbent materials such as poly pigs or socks,there are three categories to reference: • Universal-Designed to absorb any liquid (material of construction must be polypropylene)such as acids and bases as well as non-aggressive liquids and solvents such as cleaners,water based liquids and gasoline. • Petroleum-Designed for the absorption of oil and/or petroleum based liquids. Materials are hydrophobic and will not absorb water or water based liquids.They can be used for maintenance activities to absorb hydraulic oils, engine oils and fuel oil. • Maintenance-Designed for absorption of non-aggressive liquids commonly found in manufacturing or maintenance operations.This includes coolants, lubricants,oils and cutting oil.These sorbents may also be used to absorb water based fluids. Types of Spills Materials to Control Spills Wastewater or Liquid Sludge 0 25-501b bag of Floor Dry, Speedi-Dri, Kitty litter or Safety Absorbent • Absorbent poly pigs or socks with minimum of 6ft.section. Sorbent type Universal or Maintenance. • Magnetic drain cover or plug to protect storm drain or sanitary sewer outlet that may be adjacent to storage area. • Plastic drum with broom and plastic shovel for clean-up of used absorbent solids. Detergents 0 25-501b bag of Floor Dry, Speedi-Dry, Kitty litter or Safety Absorbent • Absorbent poly pigs or socks with minimum of 6ft.section. Sorbent type Universal designated for use with acids and caustics.These products are normally yellow, pink or green in color. • Magnetic drain cover or plug to protect storm drain or sanitary sewer outlet that may be adjacent to storage area. • Plastic drum with broom and plastic shovel for clean-up of used absorbent solids. Wastewater Chemicals 25-501b bag of Floor Dry, Speedi-Dri, Kitty litter or Safety Absorbent • Absorbent poly pigs or socks with minimum of 6ft.section. Sorbent type Universal designated for use with acids and caustics.These products are normally yellow, pink or green in color. • 501b bag of soda-ash or lime if sulfuric acid is in use. • Magnetic drain cover or plug to protect storm drain or sanitary sewer outlet that may be adjacent to storage area. • Plastic drum with broom and plastic shovel for clean-up of used absorbent solids.
