I
2
former 500-gallon waste oil tank at Location 1 did not have a product line and had not
been in service in recent memory.
The product line for the former 1,000-gallon waste oil tank at Location 2 is shown as the I
"Extraction Tube" on Plate 4. This line ran from a bay in;;the tire shop from a small sump
where waste oil was deposited and flowed to the tank. At the'time of the tank removal, this
tube was cut and plugged according to the County sources listed in Response 1, above.
The location of underground utilities near the tank locations was surveyed g y d by County
Government Buildings staff under direction of Mr. Larry Silva: This survey indicated the 2
underground sewer lines running near the tank at Location 1as shown on Plate 3, and that
no underground lines other than the "Extraction Tube" shown on Plate 4 are present near
the-tank at Location 2.
COMMENT 3:
Submit documentation of the disposition of the excavated contaminated soil.
RESPONSE TO COMMENT 3:
The excavated soil from the tank removal project at tank: location is stored in seven 55-
gallon drums. These drums are currently located at the County Motor Pool complex at 444
South Wilson Way. The SAWP will involve only drilling and sampling of test borings.
Soil cuttings from drilling will be stored onsite .in 55,gallon drums for disposal to be
performed by the County. A work" plan for excavation of contaminated soil will be '
developed in the future as a Site Remediation Work Plan and.will be based on findings of
the site assessment.
COMMENT 4:
Survey the exact location, status, depth, static level water measurement, and type
(municipal, domestic, irrigation) of water wells within 500 feet.
RESPONSE TO COMMENT 4:
Information for water level measurement, taken in April,1988 at Station 1 of California
Water Company was obtained from the San Joaquin Flood Control Division of Public
Works. This well station, consisting of four wells, is used for commercial and domestic
water supply and is located just north of Sonora Street and the County Motor Pool
Complex.
The water level measurements for these wells indicated a water depth of approximately 58
feet.
COMMENT 5:
Include a site specific Health and Safety Plan.
RESPONSE TO COMMENT 5:
A site specific Health and Safety Plan for performance. of the site assessment is
Attachment 2.
192-89-1077 2 l
KLEINFELDER 9795 Business Park Drive, Suite C, Sacramento, CA 95827 (916) 366-1701
