After the tanks were removed, the bottom of the excavation was <br /> excavated an additional 4 feet in depth. Results of soil tests <br /> taken (appendix A) after removal of the tanks and the <br /> overexcavation revealed no diesel fuel contamination at the tank <br /> removal site, but did reveal diesel contamination along the fuel <br /> dispensing pipe. Please refer to figure 3 for tank and piping <br /> sample locations. The results of these soil tests are summarized <br /> in Table A. <br /> The soil excavated from the tank removal site was placed on <br /> visquene plastic in the Contaminated Soil Stockpile Area shown on <br /> Figures 1 and 2 . Results of soil tests (appendix A) taken on the <br /> stockpile revealed minor to moderate amounts of diesel <br /> contamination. These results are shown on Table B. The County <br /> then contracted with Forward Inc. Landfill to dispose of the <br /> contaminated soil. The contaminated soil was transported to the <br /> Forward Inc. Landfill. copies of manifests are contained in <br /> appendix B. <br /> The excavation area for the two underground diesel storage tanks <br /> was subsequently backfilled with clean material and approved by the <br /> Environmental Health Division (LEA) of the San Joaquin County <br /> Department of Public Health Services. <br /> Dispenser Area <br /> The LEA required further investigation regarding the extent of <br /> diesel contamination below the former dispenser location.
