A minor excavation
of soil was conducted after the tank removal. A site investigation was initiated in July 1988 and
has been ongoing since that time. Interim remediation by soil vapor extraction was performed in
1999. Currently the only contaminant of concern is 1,2-dichloroethane in the groundwater at
concentrations ranging from non-detect at <.5 micrograms per liter (pg/1) to 13 pg/1 (MW-13).
The State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) has issued a resolution that all
contaminated underground storage tank (UST) sites currently in the UST Cleanup Fund
program be evaluated for closure. In order for this evaluation to be made for your site, please
submit a Closure Report which includes:
1. A calculation of contaminant mass remaining in both soil and groundwater.
2. A demonstration that the vertical extent of the impacted media has been defined.
3. A prediction of how long (in years) it will be until the dissolved contaminant
concentrations onsite will reach water quality goals.
4. An evaluation of the potential vapor intrusion threat from the remaining
contamination in both soil and groundwater.
5. Confirmation that a sensitive receptor survey has been completed for the site.
6. All other requirements of the Tri-Regional Guidelines Appendix A.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Lori Duncan, REHS Margaret agorio, REHS
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist Program Coordinator
c: James Barton, CVRWQCB, 11020 Sun Center Drive Ste, 200, Rancho Cordova CA 95670
Brian Millman, AGE, 837 Shaw Road, Stockton CA 95215
