(AGE)
on behalf of the above referenced site and has the following comments.
A soil vapor extraction/air sparge system (SVE/AS) operated at this site from March
through December, 1999. Following shut down of the SVEIAS system, two soil borings
were advanced to total depth of 45 feet below surface grade in the area of a former
underground storage tank. Analysis of soil samples collected from the borings were
non-detect for all petroleum hydrocarbons analyzed except for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel, which was found at a maximum concentration of 410 milligrams
per kilogram (mg/kg) in the 25 foot below surface grade (bsg) sample.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring has continued at this site on a semi-annual basis.
Results from the most recent event continue to show a stabilizing trend of decreased
contaminant concentrations. However, due to a miscommunication with field staff, vapor
well VW-1 was not monitored or sampled at the last event. PHSIEHD directs that
groundwater monitoring continue at this site for at least two more events, and that
sampling be expanded to include all wells on site. Analysis of collected samples should
include TPH as diesel by EPA Method 8015m, TPH as gasoline, benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene and xylene by EPA Method 8020, and fuel oxygenate additives, 1,2-
dichloroethylene and ethylene dibromide by EPA Method 8260.
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Dot Lofstrom, RG
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell, CVRWQCB
Brian Millman, AGE
A Division of Sass Joaquin County Health Care Services
