I
August 5, 1988 AGS Job No. 38033-1
Marlowe Properties, Stockton, California
Sediments underlying the site consist mostly of silts and sands at
the points sampled. Boring B-1 was terminated because no
I
contamination was detected to 34 feet below grade. Boring B-2 was
drilled to a depth sufficient to install a monitoring well .
Subjective evidence of contamination was present near the ground-
I water surface in boring B-2 , indicating a need for installation of
a monitoring well . The sediments encountered were classified
according to the Unified Soil Classification System (Plate P-3) .
` Descriptions of the earth materials encountered at the site are
presented in the Logs of Boring (Plates P-4 through P-8) . Soil
. cuttings generated during drilling were stockpiled on the site;
` disposal remains the responsibility of the client.
During drilling, soil samples were collected at 5-foot .intervals
using a California-modified split-spoon sampler equipped with
clean brass sleeves. Samples were collected by advancing the
boring to a point immediately above the sampling depth and then
driving the sampler into the undisturbed native soil through the
hollow stem of the auger. The sampler was driven 18 inches with a
standard 140-pound hammer dropped 30 inches. The number of blows
required to drive the sampler each successive 6-inch interval was
counted and recorded to give an indication of soil consistency.
7
AP)01149d GeoSystems
