August 5, 1988 AGS Job No. 38033-1
Marlowe Properties, Stockton, California
1
FIELD WORK AND METHODS
1 Applied GeoSystems observed the drilling of two soil borings and
installation of one monitoring well at the site to assess the
presence of subsurface hydrocarbon contamination and obtain a
preliminary definition of the vertical and horizontal extent of
soil and ground-water contamination.
A geologist from Applied GeoSystems was present at the site on
July 7 , 1988, to observe drilling and well construction, collect
soil samples, and evaluate drill cuttings subjectively for
tie
evidence of contamination. The borings were drilled by Datum
Exploration of Pittsburg, California, with a CME-75 drill rig
equipped with 8-inch-diameter, continuous-flight, hollow-stem
4 augers. The augers were steam-cleaned prior to use in each boring
to minimize the possibility of downhole or crosshole
contamination.
Soil boring B-1 was drilled to a total depth of 34 feet. Soil
boring B-2 was drilled to a total depth of 80.5 feet. Ground
' water was encountered at approximately 65 feet below existing
grade in boring B-2 , which was lower than anticipated.
6
.4pp/149d GeoSystems
