27 September 1996
AGE-NC Project No 95-0104
' Table 2 The laboratory report (AAL Laboratory Batch No 96-0813-001-01 through 04) and chain-
of-custody forms are presented in Appendix B
' Halogenated volatile organic compounds (HVOCs)were detected in samples collected from each well
during the August 1996 sampling event Monitoring Well MW-1 contained 1,2-dichloroethane at a
concentration of 130 ppb, which was not detected in the other monitoring wells Monitoring Wells
' MW-2, MW-3 and MW4 contained 1,1-dichloroethylene at concentrations of 50 ppb, 63 ppb and 29
ppb, respectively, and trichloroethylene at concentrations of 13 ppb, 22 ppb and 82 ppb Analytical
results of HVOC analysis are summarized in Tables 3 through 6 The laboratory report (AAL
Laboratory Batch No 96-0813-001-01 through 04) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in
Appendix B
4.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
41 CONCLUSIONS
Based on the results of ground water monitoring in August 1996, AGE has the following conclusions
• The ground water surface elevation at the site continues to r emain above the slotted screened
intervals in wells MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 Therefore, samples collected from these wells
may not be representative of shallower ground water conditions at the site
• Detection of 1,2-dichloroethane only in MW-1, which is screened across the top of the
ground water table, and detection of 1,I-dichloroethylene and trichloroethylene in the
drowned wells MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 demonstrate the existence of two locally distinct
plumes in the soil/ground water on the site
• It appears that concentrations ofTPH-g in MW-1 and ground water elevation fluctuates, but
a consistent trend or relationship between the two can not be determined from the data
• The concentration of HVOCs in all wells also fluctuates
• Concentrations of 1,2-dichloroethane, 1,1-dichloro ethylene and trichloroethylene detected
from wells MW-I through MW-4 are above the State of California Maximum Contanunant
Levels (MCLS) for drinking water of 0 5 pg1l, 6 0,ug1l, and 5 0 ,ug/l, respectively
• Ground water samples were not collected from well VW-1 because the well was dry during
this sampling event
I
E
