27 September 1996
AGE-NC Project No 95-0104
42 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected during the August 1996 sampling event, AGE has the following
recommendations
• Additional ground water monitoring wells, screened appropriately above surface ground
water, will be required at the site We recommend the installation of at least two additional
monitoring wells at the site The new wells should be installed closer to the former UST
excavation than the present wells
• Consideration should be given towards completing new ground water monitoring wells at the
site with multiple screened intervals to accommodate future fluctuations of ground water
elevation, and to monitor HVOC species and concentrations in the ground water column
• The next quarterly sampling event should be scheduled for November 1996 Any additional
wells should be installed at the site prior to performance of the next quarterly monitoring
Samples collected from additional wells should be analyzed for MTBE in addition to TPH-g,
BTE&X and HVOCs If MTBE is not detected in ground water samples collected during the
next monitoring event, then analysis for MTBE during future sampling events should not be
necessary
• A revised Corrective Action Plan will be submitted during the fourth quarter of 1996 Upon
final approval of the revised CAP, a Remedial Action Work Plan will be prepared for the
installation of a remediation system
5.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydro- geologic
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number of available
data points (e g ground water samples), and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data
points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional recommendations
contained in this report
