28 March 2002
. AGE-NC Project No 95-0104
as a sample preservative and into one 1-liter amber bottle without added preservative The samples
were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to
McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI) a State of California Department of Health Services
I (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory The samples were analyzed for
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Methods 50301355018015-Modified,
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether
I (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and
• Fuel additives MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE),
tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA), 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA)
' and ethylene dibromide (EDB) in accordance with EPA Method 8260M
3.0. FINDINGS
. Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
30 January 2002, the contaminant impact to ground water was quantified from the laboratory
analytical data obtained from the sampling event
3 1 RELATIVE GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
The elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground water
from the surveyed well casing elevations (Table 1)
' The depth to ground water ranged from 63 64 feet to 64 50 feet below the tops of the well casings
Ground water elevations at the site ranged from 35 13 feet above mean sea level (MSL) in well
' MW-5 to 35 37 feet above MSL in well VW-1 Ground water elevations at the site increased an
average of 1 37 feet between the December 2001 and January 2002 sampling events
' The ground water flow direction is inferred to vary towards the east to the northeast under a varying
gradient of 0 002 and 0 003 feet/feet Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations
1
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' TPH-g was detected 1n the water sample collected from MW-1 at a concentration of 59 µg11
• 1,2-DCA was detected in the water samples collected from MW-1, MW-5, MW-6 and VW-1 at
Advanced GeoEnvironmentaf,Inc
