Carmelita Cozad
< Page 2
i
i
i s
We agree with your determination that seasonal high groundwater
level is 40 to 50 feet. The soil boring !completed on November 9,
19901, confirms soil contamination at 40 to 50 feet. This boring
a was placed within 10 feet of the location of the former 1000 gallon
gasoline tank in an unconfirmed downgradient direction. Since
contaminated soil is within the highest groundwater level the
"environmental fate worksheet" shown in the LUFT Manual cannot be
used and your site must progress from "KnowniSoil Contamination"
(Category 2 in the LUFT manual) to ,i "Suspected Groundwater
Pollution" (Category 3 in the LUFT manual!) .
Further investigation and remediation of the site will be required
as outlined in the LUFT manual. In propoFsing; further work at the
JI{' site consult the Tri-Regional Guidelines and Appendix A.
I 3
+f, Any contaminated soil or water from previous adtivities at the site
are to be handled as hazardous waste unless self-certified as non-
hazardous according to the California Code of Regulations, Title
22, Article 11, criteria. i
If you have any questions, contact Margaret Lagorio, Senior RENS,
at (209) 468--3449.
Jogi Khanna, M.D. , M.P.H.
Health O icer
rieA. ulla, RENS, Program Manager
nvironmental Health Division
LAC/ML:nr
i
c: CVRWQCB - Jim Maughan
c: Gemini Petrographic Investigations
I
1516 Grant Avenue, Ste. 226
Novato, CA 94945
.3
i
i
`I li
