;2 tggym-. -fip. .r
M, M IF
.
Environmental Compliance Consulting
OVERVIEW
Three underground tanks were removed; one 1000 gallon gasoline tank in April,
and two diesel tanks (one 5000 gallon capacity, the other 10,000 gallon cap.)
removed in June. The diesel tanks showed absolutely no evidence of perimeter
soil contamination. The gasoline tank soil showed positive on the north (fill)
end only from two 'separate' laboratories. This soil from the gas tank
excavation is spread on and covered by 'poly'sheating on the far east border
of the property, it's total volume approximately 10 yd3.
This original stockpile of soil and all existing excavations and piles were
again sampled by Greg Reed of Universal Engineering [witnessed by Darlene Reuss)
on 10 January 1990 and transported to Precision Analytical Ltb in Richmond.
The maximum contamination from all areas was indicated in the 'original'
soil stockpile where gasoline showed 90 mg/kg and diesel at 190 mg/kg.
This evident cross-contamination of diesel in the original stockpile most
likely resulted from the 'front end' loader which transferred the soil from
the excavation to the stockpile.
REMEDIATION PROCEDCRES
A'permic to aerate has been applied for to the San Joaquin County Air Pollution
Control District. The soil will be spread on 'poly sheeting' and turned
daily , as weather permits. The covered soil, in the interl-m will be subject
to normal soil bacreria and fungi which break down the larger(12 to 14 carbon
chains) semivolatile fragments of diesel. The soil will be resampled and
analyzed as necessary until contaminant levels are below action limits.
Resampling will occur after notification to San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department. There is not presently, nor has there been in the past,
any imminent danger to groundwater. Groundwater was not present during all
-- - -
- -------excavation-procedures-and-all-contaminated-soils-removed-are-on-and-covered- _ — _ -
with impermeable ?cly sheeting.
Page 3
