i Y ,
Jay's Mini Mart
flow direction to be variable with a tendency to flow toward the north/northeast and
southeast. However, soil samples have not been collected north of the former/current
underground storage tank (UST) area where high concentrations of diesel [22,000
milligrams per kilograms (mg/kg)] were detected during the UST removals in 1997.
Please submit a work plan addendum to EHD by March 17, 2006, that will address these
concerns. Include the technical justification for each proposed soil boring in the
addendum.
EHD does not believe it is necessary to analyze soil andgrab groundwater samples from
the'proposed borings for ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether
(TAME), and di-isopropyl ether(DIPE) since these compounds have not been detected in
any soil or groundwater samples. However, please add 1,2;-DCA and TPH-diesel (TPH-d)
to the analyte list since these compounds have been detected at this site.
Chemicals of concern have not been detected in groundwater samples collected from
monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 during any of the sampling events reported
to date. Therefore, EHD will approve removal of TPH-d,] ETBE, TAME, DIPE, tertiary
butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-DCA, and 1,2-dibr6moethane (EDB) from the analytical list of
compounds if proposed by your consultant. Continue collecting depth-to-water
measurements in all wells during each groundwater monitoring event for the purpose of
determining the groundwater gradient. Please continue to monitor the groundwater
semiannually and submit the reports to EHD within ninety'days of each sampling event.
If you have any questions, please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-3456 or by
electronic mail at vmccartney@sjcehd.com.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
G %
Victoria L.
