JPCA will use a;M C-57 licensed driller and 8--inch 1
diameter hollow-stem augers. Soil samples will be collected i at each 5 ft level interval or at
significant changes in lithology commencing at a depth of teo;Ifeet, using a split spoon tube
sampler loaded with pre-cleaned brass tubes. Soil samples collected in the lowest brass liner
will be preserved by covering both ends with Teflon tape, capping, with plastic caps and
sealing the caps with plastic tape. Soil samples will be labeled and logged under Chain-df-
Custody (COC.) control. Soil samples will be stored in a cooler with ice, transported to a state
certified laboratory for analysis [four samples] or held for two weeks in a refrigerator with
COC documentation.
One groundwater sample will be collected at 45 feet below grade or the termination of the
boring. A clean dedicated bailer will be used to obtain the samples, then the sample wildbe
placed in two 40 ml VOAs with Teflon septa, labeled, held in a doled (4 Degrees C) ice chest
and transported to a State Certified Laboratory, under COC documentation, for analyses.'
Sampling equipment will he decontaminated using tri-scdium:lphnsphate, solution (TSP) and
twice rinsed with the last rinse using distilled water prior to sampling. Soil cuttings will be
stored on and covered with visqueen.
Task 3
The boring will be logged by inspection of the samples and cli ssified using the Unified Sbil
Classification System by a California Certified Engineering Geologist.
i
Task 4
The soil and groundwater samples collected will be analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as Diesel (TPHD), Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH(i),
Benzene, Toluene, Fthylhenzenc and Xylene (B1 LX) via EYAprotocol 6015 Modified:
Oxygenates via EPA protocol 8260 at a California State Certified Laboratory. Five (5)
analysis are scheduled-
Task 5
A report will he prepared to document the results of the investigation and the laboratory
r
analyses of the samples. The report will include a summary of the field work, boring logs,
COC documentation, ccrtified analytical results , eonclusionslpand recommendations rega ding
the potential environmental liabilities, if any, at the site.
