1
r.a
i*
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF WORK
i
The purpose of performing the hydrocarbon evaluation study is to
provide conclusions as to whether the site is contaminated or is
free of hydrocarbon contamination.
our work consisted of drilling and sampling three test borings,
classifying subsurface soil strata and laboratory testings.
;..: Locations of these borings are shown on Plate 2.
FIELD EXPLORATION AND LABORATORY TESTING
All borings were drilled with a CME-55 truck-mounted drill rig
equipped with 6-inch diameter hollow stem augers on Aprii 5,
3 .
1988. Material encountered in Each boring was visually
classified in the field and continuously logged by our field
tr engineer in accordance with the Unified Coil Classification
system. Descriptions of this classification system and soils
encountered in the borings are presented cn Plates 3 through 8.
All soils samples were tested in the field with a Gastech
combustible gas detector for gas and vapor. Based on the field
analysis, the on-site soils appear to be "contaminated" .
Readings from each sample are presented in the boring log.
All soil samples were obtained in accordance with guidelines
set forth by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board
: (CRWQCB) . 'These samples were later forwarded to an approved
analytical laboratory for total petroleum hydrocarbons analyses.
A copy of the laboratory results is attached with this report.
our field program was coordinated with Mr. Donald L. Roek of Roek
Construction. Locations of soil borings were indicated by
measured distances provided by Mr. Rock. however, distances did
not indicate from face of curb or from back side of curb.
Therefore, test boring TB-2 was a probe boring. Test boring TB-3
was measured from the back of sidewalk to the point of field
exploration.
2
