IT proposes to
install three on-site groundwater monitoring wells to further characterize both soil and
groundwater contaminant distribution at the site. Details are presented in the following
sections.
SITE BACKGROUND
On February 11, 1999, an IT geologist observed the removal and replacement of product
delivery lines and associated dispensers. Soil samples were collected in the vicinity of the
product delivery lines and associated dispenser locations during the removal and
I replacement activities. Soil samples were collected at depths ranging from 3.3 to 5.5 feet
below ground surface (feet bgs). Samples collected in the vicinity of the dispenser islands
indicated the presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) at
concentrations ranging. from 1.03 (PLr9, 4 feet bgs) to 7.32 milligrams per kilograms
(mg/kg) (PL-4, 3.3 feet bgs); benzene at a concentration of 0.187 mg/kg (PL-7, 4.3 feet
bgs); tcrt-butyl alcohol (TBA) at 44 mg/kg (PLr10, 4.3 feet bgs); and methyl tert-butyl
ether (MTBE) ranging from 0.186 (PL-5, 4 feet bgs) to 5.16 mg/kg (PL-10, 4.3 feet bgs).
All other constituents did not exceed laboratory detection limits. Hydrocarbon constituents
were not detected above laboratory detection limits in soil samples collected from product
delivery line locations in the vicinity of the underground storage tanks (USTs).
sac\N:\CamPk\Data%Archive\ArcoG54691Reports15469p103.doc-9511sg:1 1T Corporation
02/28/00
5
F
