KLEINFELDER &ASSOCIATES <br /> 4 FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 4. 1 SOIL BORINGS <br /> Three additional soil, borings were drilled at the Guild facility. <br /> The borings were drilled on August 25 throi:gh August 27, 1986 <br /> using a truck—mounted CME--75 drill rig equipped with ter.--inch <br /> hollow stem augers . The locations of the new monitoring wells <br /> installed in the soil borings and the existing monitoring <br /> wells are shown on Plate No. 2. <br /> Luring the drilling, a JHK&A geologist classified the subsurface <br /> soils, collected soil samples, and logged the boreholes. <br /> �n <br /> Descriptions of the soil encountered are presented on Plate Nos. <br /> 4 through 6 with a copy of the unified Soils Classification <br /> System (used to identify the soil) included as Plate No. 3. <br /> Plate Nos. 3 through 8 are included in Appendix A of this report. <br /> The soil encountered during drilling consisted of clay, clayey <br /> silt, silt, sandy silt, silty sand, and sand. <br /> To minimize cross—contamination, all augers and associated <br /> equipment were steam—cleaned prior to the drilling of each <br /> borehole.
