i
J. H. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES
7 RECOMMENDATIONS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
- The hydrocarbon plume in the ground water beneath the tank
excavation area has been characterized by the information
obtained from the Phase 1 and Phase 2 soil and ground water
investigations . Plume boundaries and direction of migration
beneath the tank excavation area have been estimated from ground
water analytical results and ground water table elL- ations from
monitoring wells MW-1 , MW-2, MW-4, and MW-7. The ground water
_. gradient and absence of detectable constituents in monitoring
wells MW-3, MW-5, and MW-7 suggest that the tank excavation
area is not adversely impacting the on-site production well.
- The present network of ground water monitoring wells is
sufficient to monitor the hydrocarbon plume beneath the tank
excavation area. It is our recommendation that no additional
wells be installed north of the main building. An additional
ground water monitoring well may ba required south or southeast
of the main building to assess the lateral extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon migration in this direction.
We would recommend the preparation of a preliminary ground water
remediation Work Plan. The objective of the ground water
remediation program is to recover the central portion of the
.__..___.hydr.ocarbon_._p.lum.eand_._._ef_f_e.ctiv_e.l.y_r.emo_ve_the majority of the
hydrocarbon constituents from the underlying ground water.
