I
KLEINFELDER
Subsequently, Kleinfelder was contracted by Guild to install a VES, and to perform
ongoing testing and monitoring to assess the system's effectiveness.
The results of the remedial investigations and the preliminary results of the VES operation
have been presented in several Kleinfelder reports. These reports are summarized in
Table 1. For convenience, the locations of soil borings and monitoring wells installed
during the previous investigations are shown on Plate 2. A Well Master List, well
4 ' construction details, and logs for MW-1 through MW-8 are presented in Appendix A of this
report.
v, The VES was in operation for approximately 15 months, from March 9, 1987, to June 29,
.f 1988. Hydrocarbon extraction emissions were monitored and are graphed versus hours of
operation on Plate 3. Emissions from the VES decreased substantially over time,
indicating that hydrocarbon concentrations in the vadose zone dropped correspondingly.
In January 1988,Guild contracted with Kleinfelder to reassess the vadose zone and ground
irq
water at the site. This report presents the activities and results of that assessment.
r
l
_ ire
113-88-908 4
