Prior to mobilization, each soil probe location wi11-be clearly marked and an,utility clearance _
obtained through Underground Service Alert.'
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE-COLLECTION ANI)i ANALI SIS
Initially,AGE proposes to advance six soil probe borin gs in the vicinity.of the fuel USTs-to evaluate
if a release of petroleum hydrocarbon has, occurred oil the site in the past five years. The probe
borings will be advanced at.a-.20 to 25 degree-angle un' er each'end of each UST. Proposed probe
boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2..
All probe borings are proposed to be advanced'to 20 feet bs' _
However,-total depths ofprobe borings
will be based on field observations and feld screening sing an organic vapor monitor(OVM). Soil
samples will be collected from each probe-boring at fiv =foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg.to the
total depth. Field procedures for advancement'of prob .borings and collection of soil samples are
presented in Section 4.2. A_f.least one sample fiom each_. robe boring will be submitted for laboratory' .
analysis.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State-ofCalifornia-Department of Toxic Substances
Control (DTSC)-certified.laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015:Modified;
• Volatile aromatics(benzene, toluene;ethyl.-be ne and xylenes; BTEX)in accordance with
EPA Method 8020;'and
Fuel oxygenates including methyl tertiary-butyl ther(MTBE);tertiary-butyl alcohol.(TBA) ,
di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl,a her (ETBE) and tertiary-amyl methyl ether
(TAME) in accordance with EPA Method 8260.
;Laboratory reports'for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory, quadity assurance/quality control .
(QA/QC) reports,-.and.sample .chain of custody documentation will be presented in' a report with
findings and recommendations.
3.3.. GROUND WATER-SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSI S-
During the, soil assessment.activities, if groundwater is encountered, samples will be,collected.
. ground water samples will be collected two orin
soil bg will'be.used to collect ground water,at least
: Advanced GcoEnvironmental;Inc.
