i TASK 4 - COLLECT GROUNDWATER SAMPLES FROM THE MONITORING
WELLS
i
ASE will collect groundwater samples from the monitoring wells after
' waiting at least 72 hours following their construction and development
Prior to purging and sampling, ASE will measure the depth to groundwater
and check for the presence of free-floating hydrocarbons in all site wells
' prior to purging water from any well Prior to sampling, each well will be
purged of at least four well casing volumes of groundwater using pumps
and/or bailers The temperature, pH and electrical conductivity of
' evacuated water will be monitored during the well purging Purging will
continue beyond four well casing volumes if these parameters have n o t
stabilized Groundwater samples will be collected from each well using
' disposable polyethylene bailers Groundwater samples will be decanted
from the bailers into 40-m1 glass VOA vials, pre-preserved with
' hydrochloric acid, and sealed without headspace All samples will b e
labeled with the site location, sample designation, date and time the
samples were collected, and the initials of the person collecting the
' samples The samples will be placed on ice for transport to the analytical
laboratory under chain of custody
Purged groundwater will be stored on-site in sealed and labeled 55-gallon
steel drums until off-site disposal can be arranged
tTASK 5 - ANALYZE THE GROUNDWATER SAMPLES
The groundwater samples will be analyzed by a CAL-DHS certified
analytical laboratory for TPH-G, BTEX, and the oxygenates by EPA Method
8260 and TPH-D by modified EPA Method 3550/8015
TASK 6 - SURVEY THE TOP OF CASING ELEVATION OF EACH WELL
' The top of casing and ground surface elevation of each well will be
surveyed relative to mean sea level by a California licensed surveyor In
' addition, the horizontal location (longitude and latitude) of each
monitoring well will be surveyed to Geotracker standards
' TASK 7 - DISPOSE OF THE WASTE GENERATED DURING THE ASSESSMENT
All waste materials, such as drill cuttings, steam-cleaning rinsate and well
' purge water, will be properly disposed of once the analytical results are
received
Frank's One Stop Workplan -- September 2003
' -16-
