. zones, then it may be possible that deeper domestic wells, with
proper sanitary seals, along with the destruction of current
domestic water wells, may be a potential cost effective solution to
providing long term potable water to residents with impacted
domestic wells
3 ) ASE recommends that analyses for HVOCs be dropped from future
samplings since no HVOCs have been detected in groundwater
samples collected from any site monitoring well at concentrations
exceeding DHS MCLs for drinking water for over 1 year ASE also
recommends that the San Joaquin County PHS-EHD also determine
the necessity for the continuation of the alcohol analyses and
determine whether the alcohol analyses should continue
4 ) Quarterly groundwater sampling should be performed on domestic
wells in the site vicinity ASE has previously recommended that this
monitoring continue for 36 wells in the site vicinity
5 ) ASE recommends that quarterly groundwater sampling continue at
the site However, ASE proposes the following modification to the
sampling plan
• • Monitoring well MW-1 has never contained etr
• g petroleum
hydrocarbons over DHS MCLs, and has only once contained PCE
above DHS MCLs This well is upgradient of the pump dispensers
ASE proposes that this well be sampled on an annual basis (Spring
only)
• Monitoring well MW-2 has had very consistent results with only
low MTBE and PCE concentrations below DHS MCLs This well is
located up/cross-gradient of the pump dispensers and USTs ASE
recommends that the sampling frequency for this well be reduced
to annual sampling (Spring only)
• Since variable MTBE and TBA concentrations have been detected
in monitoring well MW-3, and since this well is located on the
downgradient edge of the site, ASE recommends that the sampling
frequency for this well remain quarterly
• Since monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-6 have contained
hydrocarbon concentrations exceeding DHS MCLs for drinking
water, ASE recommends that these wells remain on a quarterly
sampling schedule Monitoring well MW-5 should also be
Franks One Stop Report — November 2000
-19-
