Up to 9,600 ppm TPH-G, 9,900 ppm TPH-D, 9 7 ppm benzene, 500 p p in
toluene, 190 ppm ethylbenzene, 1,100 ppm total xylenes and 10 ppm
MTBE were detected in soil samples collected along the pipelines Other
compounds detected in the soil samples collected along the piping were
up to 23 ppm vinyl acetate, 15 ppm isopropylbenzene, 5 1 ppm n-
propylbenzene, 330 ppm 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene, 910 ppm 1 ,2,4-
trimethylbenzene, 23 ppm sec-buylbenzene and 140 n-butylbenzene
Approximately 726 tons of contaminated soil were overexcavated from
the former tank excavations and were disposed of at the Altamont Landfill
in Livermore, California
2-5_ Drinking_Water, Supply__Well
Based on a well survey performed by Remedy, Inc in August 1998, at least
46 drinking water wells are located within 05 miles from the site,
including a drinking water well on-site Groundwater samples were
collected from the on-site drinking water well in July 1997, January 1998,
April 1998 and July 1998 Up to 24 ppb 1,2-dxchloropropane were
detected in groundwater samples collected from the drinking water well
3 . 0 SCOPE OF WORK (SOW)
Based on the site history and discussions regarding the site with Mr
Ronald Rowe of the San Joaquin County PHS-EHD and Mr Jim Munch of
the California State Water Resources Control Board, UST Cleanup Fund
Program (Cleanup Fund), ASE developed a scope of work to provide
necessary data for the site assessment The SOW completed for this
protect was as follows
1 ) Obtain the necessary drilling permit from San Joaquin County PHS-
EHD
2 ) Drill two (2) soil borings at the site to approximately 140-feet bgs
using a CPT Collect a capillary zone soil sample and discrete depth
groundwater samples from each soil boring
3 ) Analyze one (1) capillary zone soil sample from each boring and at
least two to three discrete depth groundwater samples from each
boring at a CALF-EPA certified analytical laboratory for TPH-G by
modified EPA Method 503018015, TPH-D by modified EPA Method
355018015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes
0 (collectively known as BTEX), chlorinated solvents and the fuel
additives MTBE, TBA, TAME, DIPE and ETBE by EPA Method 8260
Franks One Stop Report - June 1999
-3-
