IT Corporation <br /> 11315 Sunrise Gold Circle, Suite A <br /> - • k^'i' Rancho Cordova, CA 95742-6534 <br /> Tel 916 858 2350 <br /> ` - Fax 916 858 2355 <br /> the <br /> � -r Pti 117 <br /> (tigroup- A Member of The IT Group <br /> July 13, 1999 Z <br /> Project 911-007 IB ? <br /> 2 <br /> Mr Edward C Ralston <br /> Tosco Marketing Company 7/ <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road <br /> Roseville, California 95661 <br /> Re Request for Closure <br /> Tosco (Former Unocal) Service Station 5417 <br /> 1700 East Yosemite Avenue (State Highway 120) <br /> Manteca, California 95336 <br /> Dear Mr Ralston <br /> This report, prepared by IT Corporation (IT, formerly Pacific Environmental Group, Inc} <br /> on behalf of Tosco Marketing Company(Tosco), presents a Request for Closure for the <br /> referenced site in accordance with the Tri-Regional Board Appendix B Guidelines <br /> Petroleum hydrocarbon levels in the groundwater have been extremely low to not detect <br /> (ND) since monitoring wells have been installed Methyl-tert butyl ether (MtBE) levels <br /> have been measured at 16 parts per billion (ppb)which is well below current California <br /> action levels To aid in your assessment of the site we have included the closure <br /> documentation and a completed case closure checklist (Attachment A) <br /> SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> The site is located at 1700 East Yosemite Avenue (State Highway 120) in Manteca, <br /> California(Figures 1 and 2) The site is an operating service station and mim-mart that <br /> retails unleaded gasoline fuel The site currently contains two gasoline USTs (10,000- <br /> gallon) and associated product lines and dispensers <br /> Product dispenser upgrades were performed in January 1998, during which time <br /> obviously impacted soils were removed At the direction of Mr Michael Infurna San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services--Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS- <br /> EHD), seven soil samples were collected from four locations beneath each product <br /> dispenser(Figure 4) The soil samples were collected from depths of approximately 2 to <br /> 5-112 feet below ground surface(bgs) The selected soil samples were analyzed for total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g),benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total <br /> xylenes (BTEX), and methyl tertiary butyl ether(MtBE) <br />
