c <br /> PACIFIC <br /> >> <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> GROUP, INC <br /> �7 <br /> AN®CONVAW i �}T <br /> � � <br /> September 25, 1998 3 <br /> Protect 911-007 1B <br /> Mr Edward C Ralston <br /> Tosco Marketing Company <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road <br /> Roseville, California 95661 <br /> Re Soil and Groundwater Investigation Report <br /> Tosco (Former Unocal) Service Station 5417 <br /> 1700 East Yosemite Avenue (State Highway 120) <br /> Manteca, California 95336 <br /> Dear Mr Ralston <br /> This report, prepared by Pacific Environmental Group, Inc (PEG) on behalf of Tosco <br /> Marketing Company(Tosco), presents the results of the soil and groundwater <br /> investigation of the contamination at the above referenced site (Figures 1 and 2) The <br /> work performed was outlined in PEG's Work Plan for Soil and Groundwater <br /> Investigation dated June 10, 1998 and was approved by Mr Michael J Infurna Jr of the <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services-Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS- <br /> EHD) in a letter dated July 9, 1998 Included in this report are a brief site background <br /> and description of previous investigations, scope of work, findings, and conclusion <br /> SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> The site is located at 1700 East Yosemite Avenue (State Highway 120) in Manteca, <br /> California (Figure 1) The site is an operating service station and mini-mart that retails <br /> unleaded gasoline fuel The site currently contains two gasoline USTs (10,000-gallon) <br /> and associated product lines and dispensers <br /> On January 14, 1998, at the direction of Mr Infurna (SJCPHS-EHD), PEG collected <br /> seven soil samples from four locations beneath each product dispenser The soil samples <br /> were collected from depths of approximately 2 to 5-1/2 feet below ground surface (bgs) <br /> The selected soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPH-g), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), and methyl tertiary <br /> butyl ether(MtBE) TPH-g(15,000 milligrams per kilograms (mg/kg])was detected in <br /> sample PD-1 at 2 feet bgs Benzene (48 mg/kg) was detected in sample PD-2 at 2 feet <br /> bgs MtBE (3 9 mg/kg), confirmed by EPA Method 8260, was detected in sample PD-2 <br /> at 5-112 feet bgs <br /> 11315 Sunrise Gold Circle,Suite M • Rancho Cordova,California 95742-6534 (916) 858-2350 FAX (916) 858-2355 <br />
