September 25, 1998
Page 2
SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for this investigation was performed in three phases, 1) Well Survey,
2) Geoprobe® Soil and Groundwater Investigation, and 3) Groundwater Monitoring
Well Installation Field and laboratory procedures, well development and field data
sheets are presented as Attachment A The specific scope of work is discussed below
PHASE ONE: Well Survey
A search of well records at the Department of Water Resources (DWR) in Sacramento
was performed to determine the existence of nearby water supply wells, and local
groundwater use All wells within a one-half mile radius of the site currently on file at
the DWR were documented
PHASE TWO: Geoprobe® Soil and Groundwater Investigation
PEG installed ten Geoprobes® (GP-1 through GP-10) on July 23 and 24, 1998 (Figure 2)
Selected soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX, and MtBE Groundwater samples
were analyzed for TPH-g and BTEX Additionally, selected soil and groundwater
samples were analyzed for seven oxygenates (methyl tertiary-butyl [MtBE], dusopropyl
ether [DIPE], ethyl tertiary-butyl ether [ETBE], tert-amyl methyl ether [TAME], tert-
butanol, methanol, and ethanol) by EPA Method 8260 Selected soil samples were also
analyzed for pnyszcal parameters total organic carbon, moisture, porosity, bulk densely,
pH, grain size, and permeability
PHASE THREE: Groundwater Well Installation
PEG installed three groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3) on August 20,
1998 (Figure 2) Selected soil samples collected during installation were analyzed for
TPH-g, BTEX, and five oxygenates (MtBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, and tert-butanol)
PEG developed and sampled the wells on August 24, 1998 Groundwater samples were
analyzed for TPH-d, BTEX, and seven oxygenates
FINDINGS
Well Survey Results
PEG conducted a records search at the California Department of Water Resources (DWR)
in Sacramento, California (Attachment B), and identified a total of 5 wells located within
a %z-mile radius of the site No known shallow aquifer drinking water wells are located
within a %z-mile radius of the site The closest municipal well is located approximately
1,500 feet north (downgradient) of the site Results of the DWR search are presented as
Table I Well locations are shown on Figure 1
911-007 1 Bl50LG W RPT
