0
Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. 0=-
10 December 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0333
Mr. Jeff Wong R E '" E N E D
San Joaquin County Public Health Services-Environmental Health Division DEC 2 0 2001
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202 ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Subject: Interim Remediation-Free Product
RAINWATER CAR WASH
420 West Yosemite Avenue,Manteca, California
Dear Mr. Wong:
At the request of Mr.Phil Elder of Rainwater Car Wash,Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc.(AGE)performed
quarterly ground water monitoring of wells MW-1 through MW-6 and EW-1 at the above referenced site on
04 December 2001. During monitoring activities,AGE encountered approximately 6 to 12 inches of a dark-
colored, unknown floating product in wells MW-2,MW-6 and EW-1.
As an interim remediation measure to address the unknown floating product, AGE will be performing daily
purging at the site on wells MW-2,MW-6 and EW-1 with disposable bailers; daily purging procedureswill
continue until floating product is less than an inch-thick. Thereafter, AGE recommends deploying passive
skimmers inside wells MW-2 and MW-6 until floating product is no longer visible.
Due to the uncertainty of the dark-colored floating product,AGE recommends that at least one grab sample
of the floating product be collected for further characterization; at a minimum, laboratory analysis should
consist of a fuel-fingerprint utilizing EPA Method 8015M and halogenated volatile organics by EPA Method
8010. Due to substantial previous detections of hexachlorabutadiene and 1,23-trichlorobenzene at MW-2,
AGE has been informed by McCampbell Analytical that this occurrence is sometimes associated with
polychlorinated biphenols (PCBs) impact. Therefore, AGE recommends that analysis of PCBs should be
performed by EPA Method 8080 as part of this characterization. If you should have any further questions,
please contact the undersigned at(209)467-1006.
Sincerely,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
 k (
Timothy VCuelfar
Project Geologist
cc: Mr. Phil Elder, Rainwater Car Wash
Mr. Marty Hartzell, California Regional Water Quality Control Board
837 Shaw Road;Stockton, California 95215
Telephone(209)467-1006 FAX(209) 467-1118
