(AGE) was approved by San Joaquin CountyPublic
Health Services,Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) on August 25, 1999. The
work plan proposed the installation of seven monitoring wells,in-situ air sparging (IAS) and
soil vapor extraction (SVE) wells,2000 feet radius well receptor survey,a pump test,an
IAS/SVE feasibilitypilot study, and a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) upon the completion of
the feasibility studies.
Five of the seven proposed monitoring wells were installed in June/July 2000,while the two
remaining monitoring wells were postponed due to overhead and underground obstruction.
Due to the presence of porous soils in the area and the high concentration of Methyl Butyl
telt Ether(MTBE) in the groundwater samples, characterization of hydro-geological
conditions at the site and a comprehensive 2000 feet radius well receptor survey are needed
for strategic placement of additional monitor wells. In a telephone conversation on August
4,2000,PHS/EHD agreed with AGE's recommendation to delay the installation of the two
remaining monitoring wells until cone-penetration testing (CPT) drilling to characterize the
geology has been performed. Submit the 2000 feet radius well survey(which includes a
door-to-door physical search for wells) to PHS/EHD by August 31,2000,and the
preliminary investigation report/initial quarterly monitoring report of the above-mentioned
well installation event by September 15,2000.
Submit a workplan for CPT characterization and sampling by September 20,2000. Work
should commence by September 30,2000.
If you have any question, please contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335.
Donna Heran,RENS,Director
Environmental Health Division
Jeffrey Wong,REHS MargaareYLagorrio,REV
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB,Central Valley Region-Marry Hartzell
c: Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.- Tim Cuellar
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
