7. Reports shall bear the stamp or seal of a Registered Geologist or Certified California Geologist or Registered Engineer (State of California) in addition to his/her signature. 8. The Tri-Regional Staff Recommendations specify that a monitoring well be installed within ten feet of the tank pit in the verified down gradient direction. This monitoring well should be installed, but we recommend that ground water levels be measured and gradient direction calculated once again prior to selecting the installation location. 9. Quarterly sampling and monthly measurements should be continued and the reports submitted to both San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division and Regional Water Quality Control Board. REVIEW OF WORKPLAN SUBMITTED MAY 4 1989 : We have reviewed the workplan for this site and have the following comments : The removal of underground product-delivery lines is not a task to be included in the excavation workplan. A specific closure workplan must be submitted to Emit III of this office prior to excavation. The enclosed closure packet should be filled out and submitted to this office by the contractor. In the event the canopy, dispenser stand and/or product pipeline closure soil results indicate potential areas of contamination, the excavation workplan shall be revised to include : 1 . Detailed top view and cross-sectional diagrams of the proposed excavation area (s) . P opose a sampling plan based upon one soil sample per 25 cu is yards removed. 2. Table 2 of the Tri-Regional Staff Recommendation, May 1989 is recommended guidance for la oratory analytical work. 3. Residual contaminants remaining at the conclusion of the excavation attempt shall be addressed in a soils remediation plan. The soils remediation plan should include a feasibility study for each option proposed. 4. Contact San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District for aeration requirements.
