Central Valley Baptist Church Page 3 of 6
Our Project Number: E07125A
July 31,2007
system. Water softener brines are not acceptable for disposal in the septic system.
Please call our office or EHD for more information regarding suitable waste streams.
Also, please see our To';and Dontsnguide for commercial septic systems attached to
this letter.
Calculating Flow and Measuring Available Surge Volume
Based on the r ults of thSS/N , the maximum peak use for the si
be approxim ely 436 gallons day. This number was derived in a SS/NLS
addendum I er (NOA, 200 Based on the EHD sizing criteria, a to I of 328 feet of
leach line will or the proposed uses at the church facility.
Calculation for Determining Liable Cellulose Volume
The ratio between nitrate and required carbon was determine using the chemical
relationship for denitrification:
4NO3 +5CH20 + 4H+ —> 2N2 (g) + 5CO2 (g) + 71-120
Using stoichiometry, a weight ratio of 4.130 of Nitrate (NO3) to Carbon (C) was
calculated.
It was determined that approximately 424 pounds of nitrate would be generated at the
facility in a 30 year period requiring approximately 1752 pounds of cellulose (woodchips
or sawdust). Using a density of 10 pounds per cubic foot for loose sawdust and
including a factor of 1.5 to account for uneven mixing and non-cellulose impurities of
wood, approximately 8 yards of woodchips or sawdust will be required for
placement into the bottom of three (3) of the four (4) trenches during construction.
This is in addition to applying 4 inches of loose compost in the bottom of the three
trenches. The fourth trench will be used as a standard type trench for comparison
purposes and will not require carbon amendments (no wood or compost). Please refer
to the plans for dimensions of the disposal trench.
Septic Tank Volume
Due to EHD concerns regarding pote ' se of the facility, the septic tank
volum reased to an ow 11 primary to k retenti io of 4.6"ba the
mat long- rm average flo of 436 gpd. nerall , a primary tank ratio of th
(3) to five (5 considered satisfactgry.
Please refer to the attached plans for additional septic tank details and layout.
902 Industrial Way-Lodi,CA 95240■209.367.3701 -Fax 209.369.4228 02007 Neil O.Anderson&Associates,Inc.
