E .I
Because the recircufaling textile media filter recirculates the filter effluent, oxygen
content in4he wastewater applied to the filter is increased, which prevents odors. In `
addition, the filter is a closed sN'stem with carbon filters at all ventilation locations. There
should be°rlo odors from the filters during normal operating conditions. Odors may- be
detectable'adjacent to the filters when the lids are lifted for senice; however, the odor
should not be detectable by the general public.
The systerh should be constructed with a UV disinfection system to disinfect discharged
effluent as needed. Disinfection would norbe require .under normal o eratin"
P .
conditions: but would be available should a condition exist when there is less than a two
foot separation between groundwater and the bottom of the subsurface drip trenches..'
4.3 Dispersal System
4
In order to=maximize the disposal capacity and reduce the footprint of the dispersal
system, a subsurface drip dispersal system is recommended. Drip lines are typically
spaced two feet apart from each other, and buried at a depth of between 6 to 18 inches.
The final spacing and depth of the drip lines will be determined after a soil profile study
has been performed at the site.
As discussed, prev=iously treated wastewater«rill be applied at a rate of 0.2 gpdW at a
dispersal area underlain by Capay Clay or Stomar Clay Loam, and 0.4 gpd/W at a
dispersal area underlain by Vernalis Clay Loam.
A reserve area equal to the dispersal area is required to be set aside for 100%replacement
of the dispersal area if necessary. The total area requirement for the dis ersal area and
reserve area is approximately 14 act if the dispersal area is underlain bv_ Vernalis Clay
Loam; or 28 acres if underlain by Capay Clay or Stomar Clay Loam.
,1
The dispersal area may be broken into several smaller areas to fit the development land
use plan. The dispersal areas may be installed under parks and open spaces that are
expected to receive light foot traffic. The dispersal areas are not recommended to be
installed iris areas that receive heavy foot, vehicular, or equine traffic that may cause "
plugging of the buried drip lines. Additionally, treated wastewater applied at the dispersal
areas will not satisfy irrigation demands for laticiscaping at t e ispersal areas.
5.0 ESTIMATED COST
f
The construction and O&M costs for the proposed collection, treatment, and dispersal of
wastewater..generated from a future development at the lain.Family properties are
discussed in this section.
it
hY 5.1 Construction Cost
The cost to construct the wastewater collection, treatment, and dispersal systems is
approximately $5,080-000.
