Wrenches with sprang jaws,where slippage could occur-, <br /> impact tools with mushroomed heads, and wooden handled tools with cracks or splinters are examples of <br /> unsafe hand tools. <br /> Tools having defects that will impair their strength or render them unsafe will be tagged or made <br /> inoperable and removed from service. <br /> Guards must be in place during operation on all power tools designed to aeconunodate them. Guards and <br /> safety devices must remain in plate on power tools unless removed acoaaling to manufacturer's upon <br /> for maintenance by a competent person and must be replaced before use. Belts,gears,shafts,drurris, fly <br /> wheels, chains or other rotating, reciprocating or moving parts exposed to employee contact or <br /> representing other hazards must be guarded. <br /> Proper personal protective equipment must be used when operating power tools or hand tools that may <br /> produce projectiles, cuts or abrasions, dusts, fume, mists or light, or which pose a nsk of harm to arms, • <br /> legs, or feet if dropped <br /> Throwing tools or materials from one location to another, from one person to another, or dropping them <br /> to lower levels is not permitted <br /> L� 13-1 RE/gD 1QXYT <br />
