SEA COR <br /> i <br /> STANDARD SAFETY DRILLING SAFETY SSP 30 <br /> PROCEDURES <br /> • When breaking tool joints on the ground or on the dulling platform, position your <br /> hands so that your fingers will not be smashed between the wrench handle and the <br /> ground or the platform should the wrench skip or the joint suddenly let go. <br /> 1.4.30.8 Clearing the Work Area <br /> Discussion <br /> Prior to drilling, adequate site clearing and leveling should be performed to provide a safe <br /> working area for the drill rig and supplies. Drilling should not be commenced when tree <br /> limbs, unstable ground or site obstructions cause unsafe tool handling conditions. <br /> 1.4.30.9 Start Up - <br /> Discussion <br /> • All drill rig personnel and visitors are instructed to "stand clear" of the drill rig <br /> immediately prior to and during starting of an engine. <br /> • Make sure all gear boxes are in neutral, all hoist levers are disengaged, all hydraulic <br /> levels are in the correct nonactuating positions and the cathead rope is not on the <br /> cathead-before starting-a drill-rig=engine. - <br /> • Start all engines according to the manufacturer's manual. <br /> 1.4.30.10 Safety During Drilling Operations <br /> Dtscussion <br /> Safety requires the attention and cooperation of every worker and site visitor <br /> • Do not drive the drill rig from hole to hole with the mast/derrick in the raised <br /> position <br /> • Before raising the mast/derrick, check for overhead obstructions.
