i <br /> SEACOR <br /> STANDARD SAFETY DRILLING SAFE'T'Y SSP 30 <br /> PROCEDURES <br /> • Before raising the mast/derrick, ensure all drill rig personnel (with exception of the <br /> operator) and visitors are cleared from the areas immediately to the rear and the <br /> sides of the mast/derrick. All drill rig personnel and visitors should be informed <br /> that the mast/derrick is being raised prior to raising it. <br /> • Before the mast/derrick of a drill rig is raised and drilling Is commenced, level and <br /> stabilize the drill rig with leveling lacks and/or solid cribbing. The drill rig should <br /> be releveled if it settles after initial set up Lower the mast/derrick only when the <br /> leveling lacks are down, and do not raise the leveling lack pods until the <br /> mast/derrick is lowered completely. <br /> • Before starting drilling operations, secure and/or lock the mast/derrick, if required, <br /> according to the drill manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> • The operator of a drill rig will only operate a drill rig from the controls. If the <br /> operator of the drill rig must leave the area of the controls, the operator should <br /> shift the transmission controlling the rotary drive into neutral and place the feed <br /> control level in neutral. The operator should shut down the drill engine before <br /> leaving the vicinity of the drill. <br /> • Throwing or dropping tools is not permitted. All tools should be carefully passed by <br /> hand between personnel or a hoist line should be used. <br /> • Do not consume alcoholic beverages or other depressants or chemical stimulants <br /> prior to starting work on a drill rig or while on the lob. <br /> • If it Is necessary to drill within an enclosed area, make certain that exhaust fumes <br /> are conducted out of the area. Exhaust fumes can be toxic, and some cannot be <br /> detected by smell. <br /> • Clean mud and grease from your boots before mounting a drill platform, and use <br /> hand holds and railings. Watch for slippery ground when dismounting from the <br /> platform <br /> • During freezing weather, do not touch any metal parts of the drill rig with exposed <br /> flesh. Freezing of moist skin to metal can occur almost instantaneously <br /> • Drain all air and water lines and pumps when not in use if freezing weather is <br /> expected <br /> corp-hRslssp-30 30-8 REVISED 11 /02/92 <br />
