Site Characterization Work Plan <br /> ABF Freight System,Inc <br /> Manteca California Pae 2 <br /> • Section 4 FIELD ACTIVITIES This section provides detailed information about activities that <br /> will be performed at the excavation site during the project Specific and their individual <br /> components are discussed in detail <br /> Also included in this Project Work Plan are the following appendices <br /> APPENDIX I- SITE DRAWINGS <br /> APPENDIX 2 - SITE SAFE77AND HEALTH PLAN <br /> APPENDIX 3 - UST UNA UTHORIZED RELEASE REPORT <br /> APPENDIX 4 - UST CLOSURE REPORT <br /> 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND <br /> The ABF Freight System, Inc site is located off Highway 120 at 2427 West Yosemite Ave in <br /> Manteca, California The site consists of a main freight terminal and office, truck parking, a <br /> former diesel fuel dispenser island, and former 10,000 gallon diesel UST site The site location <br /> and layout of the former tanks is shown on the drawings in Appendix 1 <br /> One 10,000 gallon underground storage tank (UST) was removed by CAL INC on 3/18/98 A <br /> . copy of the Underground Storage Tank Closure Report is included as Appendix 4 of this Work <br /> Plan The sampling and testing following the tank removal was completed under supervision of <br /> Mr Michael Kith of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/EHD) The total depth of the UST excavation was 11 feet and groundwater was <br /> encountered at approximately 10 5 feet During excavation and after the UST was removed from <br /> the excavation stained soils indicating diesel contamination was observed in the base of the <br /> excavation Soil samples collected from the excavation stockpile and groundwater sampled from <br /> the excavation confirmed diesel contamination Soil and groundwater samples included the <br /> following, <br /> Two soil samples collected from the side walls of the excavation at the soil groundwater <br /> interface (T1-NW-10'4", T1-SE-10'4"#2), <br /> • One soil sample collected from beneath the diesel dispenser(Dl-4'), <br /> • Two soil samples collected from the excavation stockpile (SP1-S, SP1-N), and <br /> • Two groundwater samples, one collected after the UST removal (Excavation I V) and one <br /> after purging of the excavation groundwater(Pit Water) <br /> A summary of soil and groundwater results is presented below in Tables 1 and 2 Soil and <br /> groundwater sample locations are shown on the site map presented in Appendix 1 <br /> • <br /> 11SERVERIIC-DRIVEIPROJECTSl32721P1ans and Reports\ABF Final Site Charactenzation Work Plan doc <br /> 6123198 <br />
