Container: <br />THIS CONTAINER MUST <br />REMAIN CLOSED <br />EXCEPT WHEN IN USE. <br />Hazardous Waste Management Section <br />Storage: Waste gram or differential stains, methanol (stain fixatives), and isopropyl alcohol can be <br />poured directly into the gram stain waste container. The container should be tightly closed at all times <br />other than when waste is added to the container. It is recommended that this container be maintained <br />below the sink where stained slide preparation is conducted. <br />D. Waste Formaldehyde/Formalin <br />Formalin is a solution of formaldehyde, which is a toxic chemical and at certain concentrations may <br />meet the California -specific characteristics for aquatic toxicity. As a matter of policy, Banfield will <br />dispose of all waste formaldehyde and formalin as hazardous waste. <br />Container: <br />FET <br />T141S CONTAINER MUST <br />REMAIN CLOSED <br />EXCEPT WHEN IN USE. <br />Stora e: All waste formaldehyde/formalin bottles with tissue specimens are placed directly in the <br />"Formalin Waste Container." Do not remove tissue samples or pour the formalin into the container. The <br />container should be tightly closed at all times other than when waste is added to the container. <br />Ill. Additional Hazardous Waste Requirements <br />A. Hazardous Waste Labeling <br />All hazardous waste containers will be provided with labels by the waste disposal company, which meet <br />RCRA requirements.
