CONTINGENCY PLAN <br /> Cleanup Procedures for medical waste <br /> Spill cleanup kit consists of absorbent (cat litter) , scraper and scoop, personal protective <br /> equipment (PPE- water- resistant gown, eye protection, chemical - resistant gloves) , surface <br /> disinfectant, surface wipes, hand wipes, instructions, biohazard bag or container. Blood or <br /> OPIM spills are to be cleaned up immediately or as soon as feasible using the following <br /> method , <br /> Follow instructions included with cleanup kit <br /> ® Determine what PPE is to be used, depending on size and location of spill (gloves , <br /> gown, mask and eyewear are recommended, but booties may be necessary if spill on <br /> floor is large.) <br /> ® For fluid spill on hard surface, place absorbent over the spill to absorb fluid.
