We have identified
positive premises in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties, as well as, ongoing
investigations in San Bernardino County.
It is critical that we take every precaution to keep this virus out of commercial poultry in
California. Since we do not know yet the full extent of this outbreak, we are requesting
that all government agencies conducting routine inspections on California commercial
poultry premises immediately cease entering these facilities until further notice.
Movement of people and contaminated materials can easily spread the END virus.
If access to a commercial poultry facility is absolutely necessary during this interim time
period, please ensure that strict biosecurity procedures are followed. Our staff is
available to assist if needed.
Thank you for your cooperation with this request. if your agency is routinely visiting
commercial facilities, we would appreciate your contact information for further
communication regarding the outbreak. Please send this information to the California
State Veterinarian's general e-mail address at cavet0.cdfa.ca.qov. For questions or
additional information, please contact the Task Force office at (800) 491-1899 or my
office at the number above. Additionally, information regarding END is available on the
internet at www.cdfa•ca. .o_v.
Sincerely,
- pm9e
r,•-'-' r/ 7 f6,17
5.5
Richard E.
