` RECHVE)
JAN 2 6 1015
ENVIRONMENTAL
Used oil is removed from the tank through two (2) inch steel piping which terminates at the sou%a'TP(TfA:h1T
the building at the service level. There is currently a two (2) inch normal vent adjacent to the outlet suction pipe.
The tank does not currently have the required emergency relief venting, not less than 147,000 cubic feet per hour
(CFH) for the primary tank and not less than 168,000 CFH for the secondary tank, per the label on the front end
of the tank.
3.2.1.4 Description of Any Internal and External Ptlnips
An external pneumatic Graco Husky 1040 pump is used at the service pit drain pans(sumps)to direct used oil
through the piping system towards the storage tank.
3.2.1.5 Tank Drawings)
Please refer to Attachment 1 for typical tank configuration and Attachment 3 for configuration at time of
inspection.
3.3 Age of Tank System [CCR§66265.192(k)(3)]
The date of manufacture and/or installation of the tank is unavailable at this time, however, existing records
indicate that the tank has been in operation at the site for at least 15 years.
3.4 Leak Detection [CCR§66265.192(k)(4)]
Leak detection is part of the facility's daily inspection routine. On the tank, the annular space is visually
inspected by opening the secondary tank emergency vent and looking to determine if used oil is present.Pipes and
pumps are visually inspected for leaks. If a leak is observed, appropriate personnel are to be immediately notified
and will provide direction on the best course of action. The tank will be immediately placed out of service and the
containment cleaned out within 24 hours. The tank will remain out of service until such time that repairs can be
made and a licensed professional engineer certifies the tank is suitable for service.
3.5 Corrosion Protection [CCR§66265.192(k)(5) & 192(a)(3)]
A36 carbon steel and ASTM A-659 are compatible with waste oil.
The exterior steel surfaces of the primary and secondary tank walls were coated with one coat of paint at the
factory. At least one additional coat of paint was applied while the tank was installed at the Jiffy Lube facility.
During the tank inspection, it was noted that the painted areas around the tank connections were showing signs of
deterioration and in some cases base metal was visible. Based on the condition of the tank coating, a suitable
coating must be reapplied.
Based on information available at the time of inspection and report preparation, there is no corrosion protection
measures internal to the tank.
Ha=ardour Waste Tank System Assessment and Certification Page 6 of 9 NES,Inc.
Broadbase,Inc.
